Wood construction (Evolution)
Introduction
Carpentry is the trade "Trade (profession)") of working and carving wood[1][a] to create useful and pleasant objects for human beings. The products are usually furniture such as tables, construction elements such as doors, tools such as hammers and others. Work on wood mainly includes cutting, sculpting, polishing, joining, waterproofing[2] and others.
By derivation, the workshop or shop of the carpenter, and the work or work carried out by him, is also called carpentry.
Carpenter
The person who works in the carpentry trade is the "carpenter." Their work consists of cutting, shaping and manufacturing wooden pieces for the construction of homes. There is a carpentry workshop, intended for the construction of frames "Framework (carpentry)"); workshop, dedicated to doors, windows and similar; and furniture, whose objective is to make home furniture with common woods. Much more specialized were the carpentry shops dedicated to manufacturing carriages and boats, which have almost disappeared today as the usual use of wood to build them has been abandoned.[3] For its part, the cabinetmaker[4] is the carpenter specialized in the production and design of furniture with fine woods.
Woodworking is one of the oldest human activities, which is why each culture and region has different ways and tools to work with this material.
Artistic cabinetmaking
The manufacture of furniture and decorative objects in wood had great development in Europe since the Renaissance, especially in Italy and France. Its greatest splendor was reached during the Rococo, in France, during the 19th century. At this time, the complexity and refinement in the manufacture of luxury furniture reached a level that was never surpassed.
Originally, the term "cabinetry" was applied to the manufacture of furniture with fine wood, such as ebony or mahogany. The subsequent evolution of the trade meant that the word was applied to furniture made from different types of wood, even those of lower quality.
Currently, the cabinetmaker's profession consists of the artisanal production of furniture - apart from industrial mass production - as well as the restoration of antique furniture, made according to the guidelines of the centuries and .[3].
