Water leak detection system
Introduction
Bentley WaterCAD is a commercial software for analysis, modeling and management of pressure networks (distribution or risk systems), owned by the Software Company Bentley Systems, Incorporated that produces solutions for the design, construction and operation of infrastructures in various fields.
WaterCAD allows the hydraulic simulation of a computational model represented in this case by type elements: Line (sections of pipes), Point (Consumption Nodes, Tanks, Reservoirs, Hydrants) and Hybrids (Pumps, Control Valves, Regulation, etc.).
Description
The software, whose calculation algorithm is based on the Hydraulic Gradient method, allows the hydraulic analysis of water networks (although it can be used for any Newtonian fluid) by determining the pressures at various points in the system, as well as the flows, velocities, losses in the lines that make up the hydraulic network; as well as many other operating parameters derived from the elements present in the system such as: Pumps, Control Valves, Tanks, etc. based on the physical characteristics of the system and previously established demand conditions. WaterCAD also allows it to extend its capabilities to long-term management issues of supply systems including: vulnerability analysis, fire protection analysis, energy cost estimation, hydraulic calibration, optimization, etc.
This program, in addition to conventional tools for the analysis and modeling of pressure networks, has productivity tools in data management processes, construction of models from external files, extraction of elevations, assignment of demands based on spatial analysis techniques, preparation and management of scenarios, complementary hydraulic calculations, operational management and preparation of reports and plans. Likewise, the software offers various options for displaying results such as tabular reports, profiles, temporal variation graphs, annotations and color coding, etc.
The software, in addition to having an autonomous graphical interface (Windows Stand Alone), can work in an integrated manner with CAD environments such as AutoCAD and Bentley MicroStation.
Origins and Development
WaterCAD was originally developed by the Company based in Watertown "Watertown (Connecticut)"), CT (USA). This company was acquired by Bentley Systems in mid-2004, an acquisition from which the product began to be known commercially as .
