Warranty
Introduction
In economics, a warranty is a document that is used so that when a product has defects in its programming or material, it can be repaired or replaced with another same new product. They have a time limit of months or years, which when fulfilled, the guarantee becomes useless.
Guarantees are very important for consumers. They allow us to be certain that, in the event of defects or defects that affect the correct functioning of the product, those responsible will be responsible for repairing them so that the product returns to optimal conditions of use.
Producers, importers, distributors and sellers of the product are responsible for granting and complying with the legal guarantee.
In the event that the product must be transported to the factory or workshop for repair, the freight and insurance costs or any other transportation costs are the responsibility of the person responsible for the warranty.
Unless expressly provided for in the warranty, in the event of damage it is not appropriate to demand the exchange of the product for a new one; The supplier's obligation is to repair the product and leave it in perfect working order.
The guarantee certificates for products and services marketed in Mercosur must meet certain conditions: be written, be in the language of the country of consumption, Spanish or Portuguese - and they can also be in other languages -, be easy to understand with clear and legible handwriting and inform the consumer about the scope of the guarantee.[1].
There is a contractual guarantee, in addition to the previous one, which is the one voluntarily offered by the producer or seller, and which is generally six months, a year, or more. It is very important, when being a volunteer, to know its conditions, scope and extension. This arises from the offer itself and the guarantee certificate that must be provided to the buyer.
