A university theater is a building or space owned by a university whose main activity is the exhibition of theatrical productions.

In the planning of the spaces of a university or on a university campus, it is possible that the theater or performing room is baptized as a university theater, especially if it is the headquarters of a university theater group or is linked to a chair or classroom of performing arts studies. Some theater spaces with this nomenclature are: the University Theater of the University of Colima[1]​ (Mexico), the University Theater of the University of Costa Rica,[2]​ or the University Theater of the University of Antioquia (Colombia).
