Urban planning congress
Introduction
The Ibero-American Urban Planning Congress is a biennial congress created with the need to address the management of the natural and cultural landscapes of urban and peri-urban areas at an interregional level and in a sustainable manner.
This meeting aims to be the central node for the different actors who participate in the management of the natural and cultural landscapes of the urban and peri-urban areas of Europe and America, whether actively or passively, to exchange tools, transfer knowledge and good practices as well as political instruments that contribute to improving the management and conception of tourism, territory and landscape in a sustainable and lasting way over time.
The Ibero-American Urban Planning Congress has been held biennially since 1984. Its previous venues alternate between American and Spanish cities; previous venues have been Seville (1984), Tlaxcala (1986), Barcelona (1988), Santiago de Cuba (1990), Valencia (1992), Montevideo (1994), Pamplona (1996), Oporto (1998), Recife (2000), Zaragoza (2002), San Juan de Puerto Rico "San Juan (Puerto Rico)") (2004), Salamanca (2006), Monterrey (2008), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (2010) and Medellín (2012).
