Urban exchange networks
Introduction
The European Urban Knowledge Network (EUKN) was created as a result of an agreement between European ministers on urban policies that took place in Rotterdam in 2004, based on the experience of the URBACT program but with greater breadth and scope. Fifteen European countries, the European Commission, EUROCITIES and the URBACT Program itself participate in this network.
The main objective of the EUKN network is to make effective the necessary exchange of valid and standardized knowledge throughout Europe on urban issues, structured according to a taxonomy that covers aspects such as housing policies, urban planning, urban environment, land use, sustainable development, accessibility, mobility, security or urban economy; all of this divided into four large blocks: practices, policies, networks and research.
