UNE 1018 Standard
Introduction
The steel designation systems are a series of standardization codes developed by both national and international organizations to classify the different types of steel by their composition and physical properties, in order to provide a regulatory framework that allows establishing common regulatory conditions for manufacturers, designers and builders whose professional and commercial activities depend on this material.
European standard steel designation: Standard EN 10027
Contenido
Las designaciones estándar europeas de los aceros se dividen en dos categorías:[1].
La inclusión de una letra 'G' antes del código indica que se trata de un acero conformado por moldeo.
Category 1
The basic designations for Category 1 steels consist of a single letter (designating the application) and then a number representing a mechanical property (usually its yield strength) stated in the standard. For some application designations, another letter is included before the property value, which is used to indicate any special requirements or conditions. These additional letters and values depend entirely on the specific application of each steel.
The next group of 3 digits gives the minimum yield strength of the steel. Therefore, an S355 steel has a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa for the smallest thickness range covered by the relevant standard, i.e. EN10025.[2].
Below is a table indicating the most common application codes.
In addition to the category codes above, there are symbols that can be added to the designation code to identify any additional requirements for composition, delivery conditions, mechanical properties, etc. These values are very numerous, and depend solely on the type/application code given in the first part of the designation sequence. Additional symbols are separated from the main code by the plus sign (+).
The most common additional symbols are impact and temperature codes for structural steels, Category 1 - Sxxx.
The final treatment condition codes are also relatively common, the most common being:.
