In 1907 the first 5,000 1898 system rifles and carbines were purchased from the German DWM factory. Between 1926 and 1929, 36,000 Czech CSZ Brno vz.24 rifles were purchased from Vickers Armstrong Ltd, and during the Chaco conflict up to 70,000 additional rifles of this model were purchased from the CSZ. Also in this period, an additional 5,000 to 8,000 rifles were purchased from the FN Herstal (Model FN-24/30) and Mauser Oberndorf (Standard Modell 33). The last major purchase of this type of rifle took place in the early 1950s, when the CSZ Brno was entrusted with a large batch of the B-50 model, a variant of the German KAR98K or vz.98N, leaving huge quantities in arsenals. Despite events such as the 1952 Revolution (where large numbers were lost) today there are thousands of units that are still carried by honor guards and in training fields.
