Environmental dimension, whose main objective is sustainability, through the implementation of a sustainable development process, which is one capable of satisfying the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Alburquerque maintains that "...the sustainable local development strategy insists on the importance of maintaining the agricultural population in the rural environment, trying to diversify its activities towards the enhancement of the natural environment; the development of forestry activities; the incorporation of quality elements in activities such as organic agriculture, crafts or local agro-industries; and the conservation and valorization of cultural heritage as a fundamental support for the promotion of rural tourism."
