Territorial innovation evaluation
Introduction
The Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) of Spain is a public business entity that aims to promote innovation and technological development of Spanish companies. To this end, it is the government agency in charge of channeling requests for help and support for R&D&I projects of Spanish companies at the national and international levels. It depends on the General Secretariat of Innovation of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. It has its headquarters at Calle del Cid, number 4 in Madrid.
Since its creation in 1977[2] the CDTI has been actively providing financial support and technological advice to Spanish companies, with the aim of managing a good part of the state R&D&I aid lines in Spain, at a national and international level. It is part of the European Network of Innovation Agencies").[3] In 2012 it became a business group by establishing two subsidiaries: INNVIERTE Economía Sostenible Co-investment and INNVIERTE Economía Sostenible. The first of these was absorbed by the second in 2015. Law 17/2022, of September 5, which modifies the Science Law, renamed the organization, abandoning its traditional name, Center for Industrial Technological Development, but maintaining its characteristic acronym, CDTI.[4].
The bulk of the CDTI's infrastructure is located in Madrid, although it also has a network of offices or representatives abroad to support them in their international technological activities: Japan —SBTO (Spain Business and Technology Office)—, Belgium —SOST (Spain Office of Science and Technology) and Permanent Secretariat of Eureka—, Brazil —FINEP (Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos)—, Korea, Chile, Morocco, China, India, Mexico and the USA.
