Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS)
Introduction
The construction project of the **León Tram "León (Spain)") arose during the 2007 electoral period, although at the beginning of the century studies were carried out to implement a trolleybus system that were finally discarded.
Historical background
According to journalist Manuel Cachafeiro in an article in the newspaper La Crónica de León in August 2010, there was a tram project for León in 1903:[1].
First attempts
The creation of a tram system in the city of León "León (Spain)") is a project that emerged in 2000 by the Urban Planning Councilor Cecilio Vallejo,[2] which has been modified over time to adapt to the changing needs of the city.
The original idea was to adapt the layout of the tracks that the Feve company has in the municipalities of León "León (Spain)") and Villaquilambre as the basis of the tram system, which would make it possible to take advantage of the existing potential and respond to the rapid growth of the population, presenting for this purpose an intervention project financed by funds from the European Union, something that was finally rejected, leading to the abandonment of the original project.[3].
Impulse and development
Contenido
