Supramunicipal urban planning
Introduction
The Metropolitan Corporation of Barcelona (CMB) was a supra-municipal entity created in 1974 to administer the 28 municipalities that were part of the Metropolitan Municipal Entity of Barcelona" (EMMB). In 1987 the Parliament of Catalonia approved the Territorial Planning Law"), which dissolved the Metropolitan Corporation of Barcelona. Its powers passed to the Metropolitan Transport Entity, the Metropolitan Environment Entity") and the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Metropolitan Area. The suppression of the CMB was considered to be part of the fight for territorial power between CiU, which governed the Generalitat of Catalonia, and the PSC, which governed the city council of Barcelona and a large part of the city councils of the cities around it.[1].
In 2010, the Parliament of Catalonia approved the creation of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area Consortium (CAMB), with certain reminiscences of the old CMB.
