The Commonwealth of Ribera Alta has a packaging selection plant, located in Peralta. The plant began its activity in 1999, but with little automation. In 2008 the packaging selection plant improved its facilities and automation.

When the Navarra Urban Waste Consortium was established, the plant was attached to the Consortium to treat, in addition to its own, the waste generated by the communities of Alto Araxes, Mairaga, Mendialdea, Sakana and Valdizarbe since 2002, and those of the Commonwealth of Sangüesa since 2005. As of 2015, the plant began to treat packaging from all the communities of Navarra, with the exception of Pamplona, Ribera and Montejurra, which have their own packaging plants.[3]​.

In this way, the plant would have received 1,712 tons of different types of waste in 2012, of which 1,223.8 tons were recovered.[4]​.

In addition to the manual work of workers who are responsible for discarding inappropriate waste, the plant uses different mechanisms to process waste: optical readers, bag destroyers, Foulcaut flows, electromagnets, ballistics, aspirations, etc. Thus, the materials selected in this plant are: metals (ferrous and non-ferrous), tetrabriks, paper-cardboard, plastics (high-density polyethylene-HDPE, low-density polyethylene-LDPE, polyethylene terephthalate-PET, polyvinyl chloride-PVC and a mixture of various plastics) and glass.[5]​.

The community also has an unloading dock in Peralta, which allows waste to be stored, compacted and loaded into large trucks for transport to treatment centers. This process achieves savings in costs and carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. The facility was inaugurated in 2010, and serves to transport waste from the green container of the community of Ribera Alta to the El Culebrete waste treatment plant.[6]​.

Likewise, the community has a mobile clean point container that travels through the nine municipalities that make up the entity. In it, waste that does not fit in conventional containers can be deposited, up to a total of 14 different wastes, so the container has several separate departments. Among the waste that can be deposited in this container are paints "Paint (material)"), varnishes and solvents, light bulbs or fluorescent lights, batteries, aerosols, medications, x-rays and toys.[7]​.

As a way to adapt to the objective set by the Integrated Waste Management Plan of Navarra (PIGRN) "Navarra Integrated Waste Management Plan (PIGRN)") which contemplates that by 2020 50% of biowaste be collected separately, the community has implemented in 2013 the 5th locked container for the selective collection of organic matter. According to data from the Navarra Waste Consortium, in 2013 the 9,000 families that participated in the collection contributed about 45 tons of biowaste per month. Its treatment is carried out in private biomethanization plants.[8]​.
