Special cranes for heavy modules
Introduction
A bridge crane or bridge-crane[1] is a type of crane "Crane (machine)") that is used in factories and industries to lift and move heavy loads, allowing large pieces to be moved horizontally and vertically. If the bridge is rigidly supported by two or more legs that move on rails fixed at floor level, then it is called a gantry crane (USA, ASME B30 series).
Description
An overhead crane is lifting equipment designed to move and lift heavy loads efficiently and safely in a specific work area.[2].
It consists of a hoist with a trolley, supported or supported by one or two main beams arranged on two trolleys or end pieces. These end walls, in turn, are supported by rail beams installed in the structure of the building.
The bridge is electrically powered by means of a festoon-type flat cable run. It is called primary power, when it runs from the designated electrical panel to the main beam; and secondary feed from the main beam to the hoist. The operation is carried out with a hanging button panel or a radio control.
The hoist or tackle is the equipment that allows the vertical lifting of the load. The carriage moves the rig along the span "Span (engineering)") of the bridge, that is, it runs along the entire main beam horizontally. The complete structure of the bridge is moved through the building by means of the end cars, which have an electric motor each.
Factors
To define the type of overhead crane to be used, the following factors must be taken into account:
