Sonic element testing
Introduction
A sonic test is a type of test used to carry out a measurement or verification (direct or indirect) of some physical magnitude that uses some type of mechanical wave (if this wave propagates into the air and is audible, it is properly referred to as a sound wave).
For example, this term is one of those used in geotechnics, along with sonic sounding and "ultrasonic crosshole" in American English, to refer to the sonic transparency test in deep foundations and retaining elements.
• - Mechanical impedance in deep foundations.
• - Sonic transparency in deep foundations.
• - Integrity tests on piles and screens.
