Solar plant maintenance
Introduction
as.[1].
Solar desalination produces distillates directly in the solar collector. An example would be a solar still which traps the sun's energy to obtain fresh water through the process of evaporation and condensation "Condensation (change of state)"). Indirect solar desalination incorporates solar energy harvesting systems with conventional desalination systems such as multi-stage flash distillation), multiple effect evaporation, freeze separation or reverse osmosis to produce fresh water.[2].

One type of solar desalination unit is a solar still, which is similar to a condensation trap. A solar still is a simple way to distill water, using the sun's heat to drive evaporation from moist soil, and the surrounding air to cool a condensation film. The two basic types of solar stills are the box and the well. In a well solar still, impure water is contained outside the collector, where it is evaporated by the sun's rays through a transparent plastic. The pure water vapor condenses at the lowest temperature within the plastic surface and drips from a low weighted point, where it is collected and removed. The box type distiller is more sophisticated. The basic principles of a solar still are simple and effective, as distillation replicates the way nature produces rain. The sun's energy heats the water to the point of evaporation. When water evaporates, this vapor rises and condenses on the glass surface where it collects. This process removes impurities, such as salts and heavy metals, and eliminates microbiological organisms. The end result is water that is cleaner than the purest rainwater.
