Shoring (Trench support)
Introduction
Shoring is a type of temporary containment structure, commonly used in construction and civil engineering.
It is created using wooden planks or metal elements and square plates, measuring around one meter by one meter. There are also larger panels already assembled.
They are used in trenches or temporary clearings.
Due to the high flexibility of the shorings, they require support or elbow elements.
Sometimes they can be tensioned using spindles, which are mechanisms that allow the bars to be tensioned by applying a rotation to a threaded element.
They are not impermeable, and like walls made of "bataches", they do not penetrate the ground. Therefore, the water table must be lowered using a drainage network or well-points. These wells are only used in land with high permeability. In clay soils they are not necessary.
