Basic concept of shoe covers

Among the most common materials are polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), Tyvek®, and PVC. Each material has particular characteristics of resistance, waterproofing, breathability and cost.

Polypropylene is one of the most used materials due to its lightness, chemical resistance and low permeability. Polyethylene, especially in its rough form, offers greater slip resistance and protection against liquids. Tyvek® stands out for its high resistance to the penetration of particles and liquids, maintaining the breathability of the shoe covers.

In some cases, more specialized materials or combinations are used for applications requiring resistance to fire, harsh chemicals, or extremely dirty environments. The choice of material is essential to guarantee safety and effectiveness in the use of the shoe cover.

Shoe covers can be classified into various types according to their design and function. Disposable models are the most common in medical and food environments, offering a hygienic and practical solution to avoid contamination. They are designed for single use and are usually inexpensive.
