Self-management platforms
Introduction
The Self-management Program in Safety and Health at Work (PASST) is a program of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare "Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social (Mexico)") of the government of Mexico, to which companies or work centers can affiliate voluntarily and demonstrate their safety and health conditions at work, having the benefit of not receiving inspections in this matter, during the time that the company is within the program, carrying out comprehensive evaluations annually and receiving a badge as a safe company to those companies that demonstrate compliance with the occupational health and safety standards "Annex: Official Mexican Standards of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (Mexico)"), that do not present work-related accidents or work-related illnesses and that have implemented an OSH management system in accordance with current guidelines.[1][2].
Background
The program began in 1995 in the maquiladora industry on the country's northern border, complying with the commitments derived from the North American Free Trade Agreement. In the following years of its existence, the program has been extended to all the states of Mexico, resulting in the reduction of work accidents and occupational diseases.[1].
