Ileana Boschini López is the daughter of Humberto José Boschini Gutiérrez and Carmen López Vargas. He was born in San José "San José (Costa Rica)"), Costa Rica on September 2, 1960, with current residence in Moravia.

She has a degree in Geology from the University of Costa Rica and a master's degree in Seismology from the University of Bergen, Norway. Additionally, he has another master's degree in Leadership and Environmental Management from the University for International Cooperation.[1]​.

From 1984 to 2013 she served as a seismologist at the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity and the National Seismological Network in Costa Rica, from 2015 to the present she has been the general director of Geology and Mines at the Ministry of Environment and Energy. He has carried out various studies in seismic research in Costa Rica. She is co-author of the book Seismic Microzoning of San José, Costa Rica.[1]​ In this work, the behavior of soils in the Central Valley and their level of amplification of the seismic signal was analyzed. It is a pioneer in the field of seismic engineering and safety. It has been dedicated to the diagnosis and identification of active failures in the country.[2]​.

In 2012, she was recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MICIT) of Costa Rica as scientist of the year, for her contribution to national scientific-technological development.[3]​ She was the second woman to receive said award.[2]​[4]​[5]​ Likewise in 2012, she received the National Geological Award called César Dóndoli, awarded by the College of Geologists of Costa Rica.
