SCM and ERP integration
Introduction
Supply chain management (in English, Supply chain management, SCM) is the process of planning, implementing and controlling supply chain operations with the purpose of satisfying the needs of the customer "Customer (economy)" as effectively as possible.[2] Supply chain management involves the entire movement and storage of raw materials, the corresponding inventory that results from the process, and finished goods from the point of origin to the point of consumption. Proper supply chain management must consider all possible events and factors that could cause a disruption.[3].
Some experts distinguish between supply chain management and logistics management, while others consider them interchangeable terms. From a company's point of view, the scope of the former is limited, in terms of resources, by its supplier's suppliers, and on the client's side, by the contractors themselves.
Logistics and supply chain
Logistics is the part of the supply chain process that plans, carries out and controls the efficient and effective flow and storage of goods and services, as well as related information, from the point of origin to the point of consumption, in order to satisfy customer requirements.
Supply chain management contains the essence of integrated logistics, it emphasizes the logistics interactions that take place between marketing functions; logistics and production in a company, and the interactions carried out between independent companies within the product flow channel. Opportunities to improve cost or customer service are achieved through coordination and collaboration among members of the flow channels.
According to Mentzer, supply chain management is defined as the systematic and strategic coordination of traditional business functions and tactics across these business functions within a particular company, and across companies participating in the supply chain in order to improve the long-term performance of individual companies and the supply chain as a whole.[4].
In many aspects, logistics and supply chain management promote the same mission: “Bringing the right goods or services to the right place, at the right time and under the desired conditions, while achieving the greatest contribution to the company”.
