Roman Curtains
Introduction
Curtains are decorative elements that cover the windows inside buildings and houses. There are several types of curtains ranging from traditional classics to modern curtains with technical fabrics that provide sun protection. Additionally, they can be manual or motorized. Its main function is to totally or partially prevent the passage of light and visibility from the outside. They can also be used behind an access door.[1].
Curtains are placed in any room that has windows or large windows, but especially in bedrooms to remove light at the time of sleep[2] or to increase privacy. If they are very thin and allow light to pass through, they are called curtains. Also, an important detail is that they serve to prevent the access of cold, because at the time of cold currents or rain, the glass (conductor) allows cooling and this passes into the environment, lowering temperatures.
Modern curtains are made of technical fabrics that allow greater sun protection and provide many more benefits than normal fabrics.
Types of curtains
Curtains are divided according to their material, operation and functional quality. Thus we can find fabric curtains, metal curtains (different from blinds since they act on a single structure), automatic curtains, rustic, mechanical, manual curtains and thermal, acoustic and opaque curtains ("blackout").
Among the most common mechanisms are folding curtains, pachetto (folding without rods), roller blinds, vertical curtains, pleated curtains, Japanese panel and the most common, the traditional curtain. All of these curtains can be made to measure or purchased in a specific size at department stores or online stores.
As for fabric curtains, there are many different types: sheer, toile, open air, vintage, Indian, and more. Each type of fabric curtain has a different use and gives a different look to any room. Current types of curtains incorporate ultraviolet ray filters for sun protection, and other technologies to improve thermal insulation.
Currently there are glass curtains, a type of enclosure that uses folding sheets of highly resistant glass or tempered glass in areas that face the outside, mainly terraces, porches and gardens. They are used to create environments protected from the elements while allowing daylight to pass through, helping to make the home warmer and have more light during the day.
