Introduction
Architrave is a computer application for calculating structures developed at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
The application allows you to calculate building structures and civil works using the finite element method, analyze the results and resize (automatically or manually) the structural elements so that the project complies with the specifications of the Technical Building Code (CTE) and the Spanish Structural Concrete Instruction (EHE-08). Finally, it is capable of generating lists, tables and execution plans in DXF format.
The design of the structural model is carried out in 3D with AutoCAD using the tools of this environment and others provided by a supplied plugin.
History
In 2003, the CiD group of the Department of Continuous Media Mechanics and Theory of Structures developed and commercialized the static and dynamic calculation application, using the finite element method, called EFCID.[1].
For its part, the Grid and High Performance Computing Area (GRyCAP),[2] currently part of the Institute of Instrumentation for Molecular Imaging,[3] develops GRID4BUILD, a high performance Grid environment aimed at static and dynamic calculation and 3D visualization of building structures.[4].
Later, a collaboration was established between both groups, developing the Architrave application that is currently marketed. The latter includes a graphical interface that improves on the previous ones, with a more complete, faster and efficient structural calculation.[5].
