ERIE of Psychosocial Intervention

This subgroup specializes in assessing the psychosocial needs of those affected in order to alleviate suffering, prevent the appearance of psychopathological disorders, guide those affected to the different help resources to return to normality as soon as possible and try to detect those extreme cases that need to be referred to the mental health or social services network.

Each ERIE Psychosocial is made up of a team leader, a team leader, a psychologist, a doctor or a nurse, a [social worker] and a minimum of ten accompanying lifeguards with the corresponding training in basic psychological support, dedicated to providing Psychological First Aid and Human Support to those affected.

ERIE of Provisional Shelter

The purpose of the ERIE for Provisional Shelter is the supply and distribution of shelter, food and hygiene items, as well as organizing and installing temporary shelter areas, collaborating with the ERIE for Psychosocial Intervention when deemed appropriate.

The emergency situation can cause the displacement of the population from their homes and even from their town. When reception by family and/or friends or accommodation in hotel establishments is not possible, this ERIE is activated.

Once the available location is assured, if necessary, by the administration, meeting the established minimum requirements, the temporary shelter ERIE can be put into operation, responding to the temporary shelter of up to 200 people indoors and 100 outdoors, since the necessary material and human resources are defined, as well as the activation and coordination procedures for the development of the activity.

The objectives are:

ERIE Communications and Coordination

Supported by specialized material. Its main mission is to provide the necessary means to establish communications in any area of ​​operations in the field of emergencies, acting as a coordinating center.

Each Communications ERIE is made up of a team leader, one or two specialist technicians who will install the equipment and two to six trained operators who will handle communications.

It therefore guarantees the communications of the different ERIE both in the work area and outside between the teams, their members and with the operational command.

It has the capacity to provide technical means that favor the coordination of interventions, moving a Mobile Coordination Center for this purpose. You can install and maintain the technical means to establish communications via radio (VHF, UHF) and telephone (Fixed, GSM, Satellite).

ERIE Search and Rescue in the Terrestrial Environment

Collaborates in actions to locate missing and/or lost people, through the planning and execution of tracking operations in terrestrial environments (natural spaces, etc.), as well as the provision of the necessary health support to victims, using the most common means defined for this purpose, as well as other more specific ones such as dogs.

Provides support in the necessary actions to place the victim in safe conditions and in a position to proceed to his rescue in those circumstances in which he is at imminent risk to his physical integrity and that require the assistance of specific and defined techniques and materials for this purpose.

Participates in the rescue of victims, transporting them from the accident site in the safest conditions and providing the necessary health care to the appropriate point to be transferred to a means of evacuation adapted to their needs that enables their transfer to a healthcare center.

It is in a position to intervene at the national level with maximum activation and mobilization times of:

For search: no more than 2 hours from receipt of the request.

For Rescue: no more than 1 hour from receipt of the request.

ERIE Search and Rescue in the Aquatic Environment

Participates in the planning and carrying out of Search and Rescue and rescue tasks in rivers, swamps, reservoirs, lakes, etc., of missing persons, providing the material and human resources necessary for the intervention based on the response capacity of the ERIE. In the maritime field, they work in cooperation with the Maritime Rescue and Safety Society (SASEMAR).

ERIE for Humanitarian Assistance to Immigrants

This subgroup specializes in providing the human and material means to offer irregular immigrants basic medical and nutritional care when they arrive on the Spanish coast by means of "boats" incorrectly called by the press "cayucos", "pateras" or "slave ships".

Each ERIE AHI is made up of a team leader, a logistician, a doctor and a nurse in addition to twenty (minimum) lifeguards, Health Transport Assistants and volunteers in general.

This type of ERIE is located mainly throughout the south of the peninsula and in the Canary Islands (1 Team in El Hierro, 1 Team in La Gomera, 1 Team in Tenerife, 1 Team in Gran Canaria, 1 Team in Lanzarote, 1 Team in Fuerteventura), 2 Teams in Cádiz, 1 Team in Cartagena, 1 Team in Alicante, 1 Team in Almería and 1 Team in Málaga, having its own facilities in the ports of Alicante, Almería and Málaga where vessels arriving in these provinces are attended to.
