Facilities Management
The legal figure that will govern the use of the facilities of the Malata Municipal Stadium by Racing will be the general concession, and it will be free of charge. Among the administrative clauses contemplated in the document, it is stated that the club may use the central playing field, the seats, the ticket offices, the annex field and other facilities to hold meetings and training sessions. The duration of the new agreement is 3 years, extendable to a maximum of 15 years.
The rest of the complex's facilities are excluded, such as the climbing wall, the municipal swimming pool and the ground floors near the kayak lagoon. Meanwhile, the City Council may organize sporting and cultural events in the stadium as long as they do not interfere with the official competition or activities scheduled by the club. The City Council will organize the Concepción Arenal trophy with the collaboration and organizational support of Racing.
Regarding maintenance and works, the club will be responsible for all costs of conservation, repair, improvements, renovations, cleaning and security necessary for the proper use of the facilities. The largest works, such as those that affect the structure of the stadium, its stability or the roofs, will correspond to the City Council.
The necessary technical adjustments required by the regulatory bodies of official competitions for the participation of the team will be carried out by Racing, as well as the adoption of safety and emergency measures.

Led lighting
The A Malata Stadium lighting system, installed in 1993 and based on metal halide lamp technology, showed obvious signs of obsolescence and deterioration after 32 years of service. With a total of 202 projectors, distributed between the towers and the eaves of the stands, the system not only failed to meet the lighting standards required for LaLiga television broadcasts, but also presented critical safety problems due to corrosion and lack of proper maintenance.
During an inspection carried out in November 2023, serious deficiencies such as exposed wiring and light bulbs filled with water were evident, compromising the integrity of the system. Furthermore, the difficulty in finding spare parts for this type of obsolete technology predicted a problematic future, highlighting the urgent need for an update to the most modern and efficient LED technology.
The lighting renovation project includes the implementation of LED technology for the playing field lighting system, ensuring that it meets the lighting levels required by LALIGA EA SPORTS in HD, according to the standards of the Regulations for Television Broadcasting.
The total cost of the installation is €1,800,000, covered with €750,000 by the Ferrol city council, €750,000 by the La Coruña provincial council and €300,000 by the Racing Club Ferrol.

These new spotlights can be attached to the new roof of the stadium (included in the budget of the A Malata sports city).
27 projectors will be installed for each turret, with another 120 distributed on the eaves of the complex's roof, at a rate of 50 in the Grandstand stand, the same number in the Preferential stand, 10 in the South Fund and another ten in the North Fund.
There will be two types of luminaires and seven types of optics and a centralized control system will be incorporated for its regularization and monitoring, as well as for the implementation of light shows.
Finally, the facility will add a generator set to "provide backup supply for the television broadcast systems and stadium lighting in the event of a power failure," in addition to replacing its lightning rod network with a "remote verification technology and protection system." The generating set is located in one of the rooms at the north end.
The work on the stadium's new LED lighting was completed in August 2025.

The lighting in the common areas of the stands was replaced by LED in 2023.
Video markers
The old electronic scoreboards of A Malata, which only provided information on the score of the match and the time played, were already very deteriorated and even the one of Fondo Sur broke down at the beginning of the 2024/2025 league season and was inoperative until the end of the campaign, with the consequent detriment for the fans of Fondo Norte.
The video scoreboards were an old aspiration of the club's owners, the Elite Group, who always expressed their aspiration to provide the stadium with these LED screens, with a high definition, in which they could provide fans with information, product offers, notifications or place advertising from the club's sponsors.
The installation of the LED screens has been carried out by the company Trison, a Galician company specialized in the digitalization of physical spaces and sensory marketing, and was carried out in August 2025.[11]
They have been located in both backgrounds at the top of the stands.
Deck
The new roof structure is the largest remodeling of the new and modern A Malata, which will allow the replacement of the current roof with 32 years of history, very deteriorated due to exposure to inclement weather and the proximity of the estuary.
On 09/08/2025, the first phase of the reform was approved, which covers 85% of the total roof and a second, relating to the remaining 15% (corresponding to the southeast corner of the stadium) and which requires state permits as it is within the building line of the FE-15 highway, owned by the Ministry of Transportation.
The total cost of the roof renovation, which has regional financing, amounts to 2,957,566.60 euros.
The new roof will have dimensions of 181.75 x 121 meters, leaving an interior space of 134 x 73.6 meters. In this sense, they explain, the finish will be a green pre-lacquered steel sheet and on it the labeling will be made with the official name of the club with a height of 8 meters in white vinyl.
The work includes the installation of four skylights and skylights that facilitate access to the roof, with the aim of promoting its future maintenance. Action will also be taken on the flat roof of the Preference access and the cantilever of the roof towards the interior of the field will be increased by 2.5 meters, thus recovering the first rows that are not currently covered by the old roof.
The translucent cover of the access corridor will be changed, modifying its structure in order to integrate it into the same plane as the rest of the roof and windows will also be implemented in the South Fund corridor to prevent water from entering the area. Downpipes, gutters and grilles will also be colored Racing green to unify the image of the stadium.
This action, included within the City of Sports macroproject, also contemplates the humanization of the stadium environment and its interconnection with other points of interest such as Fimo or the A Malata sports pavilion.[21].
All these reforms will be carried out with the financing of the Provincial Council of La Coruña, the Ferrol City Council and the Xunta de Galicia, which will allow the A Malata Stadium to become one of the most modern stadiums in Galicia.
