Introduction
Antonio Carámbula Sagasti (Montevideo, November 7, 1960) is a Uruguayan veterinarian and politician, belonging to the Frente Amplio "Frente Amplio (Uruguay)"). On May 30, 2012, he was appointed Undersecretary of Tourism and Sports of Uruguay by the president, José Mujica.[1] In the period 2015-2020 he served as executive director of Uruguay XXI, the state agency for the promotion of exports, investments, and the management of the Uruguay Natural country brand. Today he is a specialized business consultant.
Biography
He studied in the Uruguayan public system and completed secondary school at the Elbio Fernández high school. He received his veterinary doctorate in 1990, from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine "Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (University of the Republic)") of the University of the Republic.
In 1989 he lived almost a year in the Department of San José for a scholarship from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for “Planned Technical Assistance”.
He completed Postgraduate studies at the Catholic University (UCUDAL) in the Master of Business Administration MBA.
He was a leader of the Federation of University Students of Uruguay (ASCEEP-FEUU), integrating its executive secretariat and its Federal Council. In addition, he was a member of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (University of the Republic) "Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (University of the Republic)") by Student order and the General Assembly of the Faculty and the Faculty Council by Graduate order.
He was Executive Secretary of the Franciscan and Ecological Research and Promotion Center (CIPFE), where he was in charge of the Institution's social programs (shelters for the elderly, and Women and children living on the street) and Director of the environmental publication “Alerta a la Vida”.
He was a professor at the Faculty of Business Sciences of the Catholic University of Uruguay.
He is currently a Member of the Board of Directors of the Claeh University, is a member of the Friends of the Solís Theater Commission, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the América Solidaria Foundation.[2].
Public career
Between 1995 and 2005 he served as Secretary of the Local Board of the Zonal Community Center No. 1 of the Departmental Administration of Montevideo, appointed by the Mayor Architect Mariano Arana.
