Regional management
Introduction
Regional administration is a level of territorial administration, that is, it has as its fundamental element a specific territory, in which it deploys its powers "Competence (law)"), called region, which may correspond to the highest or intermediate level of the administrative division of a country or state.
Regulation by country
Chili
In Chile, the regions are the highest territorial divisions of the country. The superior administration of each of the regions corresponds to the regional governments, made up of two bodies: the respective mayor, appointed by the President of the Republic and who remains in office as long as he has his confidence, and the regional council, made up of councilors elected by universal suffrage, in direct voting, for four-year periods, and who can be re-elected.
Starting in 2021, each of the 16 regions of the country will have a Regional Governor, who will replace the Mayor and will be elected by direct vote, for four-year periods, with the possibility of being re-elected only once.[1].
