Qatar National Museum
Introduction
The National Museum of Qatar[1] (Arabic: متحف قطر الوطن) is located in the city of Doha, the capital of Qatar,[1] opened its doors in 1975 in a restored palace originally built in the century by Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al-Thani. It served as the family residence and the seat of government for approximately 25 years. In addition to the original Amiri Palace, the former National Museum of Qatar includes a State Museum, a lagoon and a popular marine aquarium. The National Museum of Qatar is closed and a new museum will open in December 2014.
