Price Variation Monitoring
Introduction
The Institute for Social, Economic and Citizen Policy Research (ISEPCi) is an institute of the Argentine Republic, with its main headquarters in Buenos Aires, which works at the national level in conjunction with several headquarters throughout the country, mainly on social and economic issues in popular neighborhoods. Since 2011, it has been dedicated to the construction of monthly indices on the price variation of the Basic Food Basket (CBA) in local stores in popular neighborhoods (IBP).[1] It also prepares semiannual and annual indicators on different factors that influence the life of less resourced neighborhoods, for example, access to food, malnutrition, public services, among others. The institute is linked to the social organization Barrios de Pie/Libres del Sur and has agreements with universities for data work.[2].
History
In 2000, the members of the ISEPCi, without legal formation, promoted the José de San Martín Training School, aimed at members of social and student organizations in the country, developing training courses on national and Latin American history.
During 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, the National Latin American Chair was taught in different parts of the country in conjunction with educational institutions and civil society organizations. This project was developed in seminars or lectures aimed at understanding Latin American history and present with an integrative sense. The chair was held at: University of Buenos Aires, National University of La Plata, National University of Río IV and National University of Córdoba.
Another of the experiences in which the ISEPCi team participated is the constitution of the Bolivarian Chairs in 2003. Planned within the scope of the social organization Bolivarian People's Congress, and whose objective focuses on the development of the values of Latin American regional integration. These chairs are taught at the Popular Madres de Plaza de Mayo University and at the National University of Cuyo (Mendoza). Likewise, the Institute held various workshops in popular neighborhoods of the Federal Capital and the Buenos Aires suburbs with the following topics: Argentine history workshops, popular communication workshops, human rights workshops, workshops on the right to gender equality, health prevention workshops,[3] on the environment and legal advice. During the years 2007 and 2008, the Institute developed the Juana Azurduy Chair “Women in History, Women's History”, at the Universidad Popular Madres de Plaza de Mayo.
