Pressure Equipment Regulations
Introduction
A pressure device is a piece of equipment subjected to pressure of a liquid fluid or gas.
This pressure can be internal pressure or external pressure.
Types of pressure devices
If the pressure device is only subjected to the external atmospheric pressure and the internal pressure of the weight of the fluid, these devices are considered atmospheric tanks.
If it is a container that contains a pressurized fluid, it is called a reservoir.
If the pressure appliances also have the contribution of a flame, it is called a boiler "Boiler (artifact)").
The pressure apparatus may be divided into two or more compartments. If these compartments are attached, it is considered a pressure assembly. If one part is a shell&action=edit&redlink=1 "Shell (metallic shield) (not yet written)") and the other is tubes, it is called an exchanger or condenser "Condenser (thermodynamics)").
If the pressure vessel is made up of a shell and one or more half-rounds, it is called a reactor. A reactor can also have a coil.
If the pressure apparatus is a circular or square casing whose purpose is the circulation of fluid, then it is called a pipe.
Applications
Pressure devices have infinite applications. From everyday use (pressure cookers, heater). They are also used in the pharmaceutical industry, petrochemical industry...
Design and manufacturing
Pressure devices are manufactured depending on their use of different materials: plastic materials, ceramics, ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals...
Industry in general and boilermaking in particular are involved in manufacturing.
Both pressure devices and their component parts are designed according to design codes and standards. Almost every country has its own code, France, the CODAP"), Germany, the AD-Merkblatter code"), the United States, the ASME code, the European Union, the EN-13445 standard...
Inspection
Pressure devices are subject to rigorous controls and inspections. These controls are mostly carried out by companies independent of the manufacturing and design process.
Design and manufacturing are inspected and the device is subjected to a pressure or performance test.
