Organic solar cells (OPV)
Introduction
Organic photovoltaic cells are solar cells, in which at least the active layer is composed of organic molecules.[1].

There are mainly three types of organic photovoltaic cells:
History and use
Appeared in 1990, they constitute an attempt to reduce the cost of photovoltaic electricity, without a doubt the main obstacle for this technology. Organic photovoltaic cells benefit, in fact, from the low cost of organic semiconductors, as well as from many possible simplifications in manufacturing processes.[2].
Polymers are distinguished in organic semiconductors, which are deposited by centrifugation. They are small molecules of materials deposited by thermal evaporation.
Using plastic (PEN, PMMA...) as a substrate, they offer the prospect of continuous production (roll-to-roll), which finally allows access to solar panels at a reasonable price.
Even in experimental research, the performance record is between the and the in the laboratory. Advances in technology regarding efficacy and encapsulation must be made before possible commercialization&action=edit&redlink=1 "Encapsulation (chemical) (not yet drafted)"). In fact, oxygen, very electronegative, reacts with the excess electrons and reduces the doping level "Doping (semiconductors)").
