Niterói Museum of Contemporary Art
Introduction
The Niterói Museum of Contemporary Art (in Portuguese, Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói), is a museum dedicated to Brazilian contemporary art located in the city of Niterói, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Designed by the architect Oscar Niemeyer with the help of the structural engineer Bruno Contarini"), it is one of the last works carried out by Niemeyer at the age of 100. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói is 16 meters high and its dome has a diameter of 50 meters, with three floors. It projects over the Boa Viagem ("Bon Voyage") viewpoint an area of 817 square meters that surrounds the cylindrical base "like a flower", in the words of Niemeyer.
A wide access ramp leads to an Exhibition Hall, with capacity for sixty people. Two doors lead to the observation gallery, from which you can see Guanabara Bay and Sugar Loaf Peak.
