Micro-agglomerate
Introduction
Zapala Airport (IATA: APZ - ICAO: SAHZ - FAA: ZAP) is an Argentine airport that serves the city of Zapala, Neuquén.[1][2] It received flights from the defunct airline Transportes Aéreos Neuquén.
The airport is located 10 kilometers south of the city, on National Route 40 "National Route 40 (Argentina)"). It has a runway 2,200 meters long and 40 meters wide. It has 500 meters of taxiways 15 meters wide and the platform has an area of 12,000 square meters. The terminal has 300 covered square meters.[3].
Between 2010 and 2012, remodeling works were announced so that the airport could be an alternative to the Neuquén City airport.[4] The works ended in June 2015, after the airport was closed in December 2013.[3].
The runway was resurfaced with microagglomerate" as it had been affected by the 2010 Chile earthquake and the 2011 Puyehue eruption. The signage, runway markings, apron and taxiways were also renewed, and the terminal was remodeled and expanded.[3].
