Measurement software
Introduction
DewesoftX is a software developed by the company Dewesoft d.o.o., which is used for scientific measurement applications, data recording from analog and digital sources and data analysis. DewesoftX software is delivered with all Dewesoft data acquisition instruments.[1].

The History
Origins
In 2000, Jure Knez") from Trbovlje, Slovenia, was a mechanical engineer working mainly in the fields of rotor balancing, sound and vibration. He published several research papers on these topics, including analysis of measurement signals from vibration measurements in turbogenerators")[2] and steam turbine dynamic behavior.[3] He was also a programmer and often created his own software to solve engineering problems. During one project, Knez used data acquisition hardware manufactured by Dewetron") GesmbH of Graz, Austria. Dewetron used third-party data acquisition software based on NI LabVIEW. Together with business partner Andrej Orozen"), also from Trbovlje, Knez established the company Dewesoft. The company formed a strategic partnership whereby Dewesoft would develop software for hardware produced by Dewetron. Dewetron, which would distribute the software with its products worldwide, ended its dependence on third-party software.[4].
At the direction of Dewetron founders Franz Degen and Herbert Wernigg, Knez traveled to Dewetron's U.S. office. Knez emigrated in 2000 to work with Dewetron's U.S. president, Grant Maloy Smith, and Dewetron applications engineer Gerald Zotzeck to design the first version of the software. The three worked together at the company's Charlestown headquarters in Charlestown. (New Hampshire)"), RI, for several weeks, establishing the user interface and performance principles of the new software.
They released the first commercially available version of the data acquisition software in 2001, calling it Dewesoft 5.0. Software was sold in the United States, Europe and Asia by Dewetron. The Slovenian Chamber of Commerce awarded Knez, Smith and Zotzeck a technical innovation award for the development of Dewesoft 5.0 in 2000.[5].
Version history
In 2002, Dewesoft 5.0, the first commercially available version of the software, was patented by the United States and European Union patent offices. Knez and Smith, with their colleague Matija Tuma, wrote an article on the evolution of PC-based data acquisition systems that was published in the May issue of Sound & Vibration Magazine.[6].
