Master Plan
Background
The PDI is not the first instrument for planning infrastructure actions. In terms of metropolitan railway infrastructure, the first general plan for the Barcelona metro dates back to 1963 with the 1963 Emergency Plan of the Barcelona Transport Coordinator. The first plan that takes into account the RENFE and suburban lines as complementary is the Metro Plan of 1974.[1].
In 1997, the Metropolitan Transport Authority was created, bringing together different responsible administrations and planning began in a more global way, integrating the RENFE, FGC, TMB (FMB and Bus) lines.[1].
