The electrotechnical regulation for low voltage contains the following Complementary Technical Instructions (ITC): [1]​[5]​[2]​.

Electrical protection is a useful device to protect electrical installations when the usual operation has been altered or there are connection failures, being responsible for disconnecting the power in such abnormal circumstances of the operation of the installations. Devices can be classified according to their protective function, such as against overload, short circuit, insulation faults, indirect contacts, overvoltage, undervoltage or undervoltage, and high voltage discharge. They are also differentiated, according to the manufacturing technology in [electromechanical, electromagnetic, electronic and consumables (which are consumed in use).[8]​.

Royal Decree 1053/2014, of December 12, approves a new Complementary Technical Instruction (ITC) BT 52 "Installations for special purposes. Infrastructure for recharging electric vehicles", of the electrotechnical regulation for low voltage.[2]​.

In newly constructed buildings or parking lots, the specific electrical installation for recharging electric vehicles must be included, executed in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned (ITC) BT-52, with the following minimum provisions:.

On public roads, the necessary installations must be made to supply the charging stations located in the places designated for electric vehicles that are provided for in the supra-municipal or municipal Sustainable Mobility Plans.

Industrial safety of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism will prepare and keep updated a technical Guide, of a non-binding nature, for the practical application of the ITC.

Serán objeto de Inspección aquellas instalaciones que hayan requerido proyecto. Las inspecciones se llevarán a cabo por parte de un Organismo de Control Autorizado (OCA).[9]​.

Los Organismos de Control Autorizado (OCA) están establecidos en el artículo 15.1 de la Ley de Industria y son aquellas personas físicas o jurídicas que teniendo capacidad de obrar y disponiendo de los medios técnicos, materiales y humanos e imparcialidad e independencia necesarias, pueden verificar el cumplimiento de las condiciones y requisitos de seguridad establecidos en los reglamentos de seguridad para los productos e instalaciones.[9]​ A efectos del cumplimiento de los requisitos de competencia técnica, imparcialidad e independencia, el organismo de control deberá cumplir lo establecido en la norma ISO 17000[10]​ que le sea de aplicación y obtener la correspondiente acreditación de previa por una entidad nacional de acreditación.[11]​.

Los OCAs establecen un plazo, normalmente máximo de seis meses, para que corrijan las anomalías.

Si transcurridos los seis meses no se han subsanado, este Organismo emite un acta negativa y se inicia un expediente administrativo en el que se requiere a la comunidad de propietarios que repare la instalación, pudiendo finalmente ser sancionada por la Ley de Industria con multas de hasta 90.000 euros, ya que el incumpliendo de las prescripciones de seguridad y la inadecuada conservación y mantenimiento de las instalaciones puede suponer un peligro para las personas y los bienes.

Las inspecciones podrán ser iniciales (antes de la puesta en servicio de las instalaciones) y periódicas.

All low-voltage electrical installations that required initial inspection will be subject to periodic inspections every 5 years, and those common to residential buildings with a total installed power greater than 100 kW will be subject to periodic inspections every 10 years. or from 24 supplies.

The Community of Madrid, on April 8, 2019 (B.O.C.M Num 83 page 12), expands periodic inspections in residential buildings to more than 16 supplies.[12]​.

Once the works are completed and the initial verifications and inspection have been carried out, the installation company must issue an Electrical Installation Certificate (CIE), also known as a bulletin.
