Kate Orff (Landscape Designer)
Introduction
Kate Orff (Maryland, 1971) is an American landscape architect.
Path
She is the founder and design director of SCAPE, a company focused on landscape architecture. He has designed projects both in the United States and abroad. He lectures in the US and abroad on urban landscape and new paradigms of thinking, collaboration, and design in the Anthropocene. Kate also teaches interdisciplinary seminars and design studies at Columbia University.[1] In 2017, Orff received a Genius Grant from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation").[2].
Orff studied at the University of Virginia and Harvard University. In 2011 she was included in a list by Elle magazine as one of the nine women "correctors" of humanity.
She is the Director of the Urban Design Program at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University, where she is founder and co-director of the Urban Landscape Laboratory.[4][5][6].
Recognitions
According to information provided by the Urban Landscape Laboratory, its office, SCAPE, has won local and national design awards. She was named a design leader by Dwell Magazine and one of H&G's 50 Future Design Influencers. In 2008 he received an award from the American Society of Landscape Architects in the communication category.[3].
In 2012 Orff was named a member of the United States Artists").[7].
In 2014, Orff was recognized for her work designing the 103rd Street Garden, by Built by Women New York City,[8] a competition organized by the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation in fall 2014 to identify exceptional and diverse sites and spaces designed and built by women.
