The IPE profile is a laminated product whose normalized section has a double T shape, also called I, and with a thickness called European. The exterior and interior faces of the flanges are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the web, and thus the flanges have a constant thickness (main difference with respect to the IPN profile).

The joints between the faces of the web and the inner faces of the wings are rounded. The wings have sharp outer and inner edges. The ratio between wing width and profile height remains less than 0.66.
