Innovation Hub Planning
Introduction
The General Directorate of Industrial Strategy and Small and Medium Enterprises (DGEIPYME) is the governing body of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism "Ministry of Industry (Spain)"), attached to the Secretary of State for Industry, which is entrusted with the task of designing industrial policy and policies to support and promote entrepreneurship and the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.
History
The General Directorate was established by Royal Decree 1009/2023, of December 5, assuming a large part of the functions of the former General Directorate of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises, which was divided into two other management bodies.[1].
In this sense, this new General Directorate assumed the policy related to SMEs and the design of industrial policies, as well as issues on entrepreneurship, quality and industrial safety, while the General Directorate of Industrial Programs assumed matters related to the design of industrial programs and their management, control and evaluation, and the management of national funds to promote the industry.
The General Directorate was structured by four general subdirectorates—Strategy and Industrial Ecosystems, Industrial Quality and Safety, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, and Industrial Strategic Autonomy—and also oversees the public companies National Innovation Company (ENISA) and Spanish Reaffirmation Company (CERSA).[2].
