Concept of floor hardeners
Floor hardeners are materials or additives applied to concrete surfaces to improve their surface strength, durability and wear resistance. These products allow the pavement to withstand greater mechanical loads and intense traffic without deteriorating quickly.
The main objective of hardeners is to increase the surface hardness of fresh or cured concrete, facilitating its maintenance, reducing dust and prolonging its useful life. They are mainly used in industrial, commercial floors and high traffic areas where a strong and durable surface is required.
Types of floor hardeners
Powder hardeners
Powder hardeners are dry mixtures that are spread over fresh concrete during placement. They generally contain mineral aggregates, special cements and chemical additives that react with the concrete surface to improve its resistance.
Its application is carried out through a troweling and polishing process, achieving a dense and compact surface. They are ideal for industrial floors where high resistance to abrasion, shocks and heavy loads is required.
This type of hardener allows you to customize the tone and aesthetic finish of the floor, given that they may contain pigments and metallic particles.
Liquid hardeners or sealants
Liquid hardeners, also known as sealers or cures, are applied to already set concrete surfaces to penetrate the top layer and consolidate the material. They are formulated based on sodium silicate, potassium silicate or polymeric compounds.
Upon penetrating the concrete, these products react with the calcium hydroxides present, forming insoluble crystals that increase the density and surface hardness. In addition, they reduce water absorption and dust formation.
They are widely used on warehouse floors, warehouses, and areas that require a cleaner, stain-resistant finish.
