Fire station maintenance
Introduction
ISO 7240 – 14 Version 2013, Design, Installation, Commissioning and maintenance of fire detection systems in buildings.
ISO 7240") - 14 is the international standard that should be used by countries that lack standards for fire detection and alarm systems to develop their own legislation, and by countries that want to update their codes or standards for fire detection systems to strengthen them and have greater independence.
Additionally, it helps each country to design clear standards with minimum safety requirements for detection devices or products and fire detection alarms, from different origins and third-party laboratories from third countries that are going to be used within its own territory and avoid depending on a single code or standard designed by another country.
This standard is a neutral guide that includes good practices for the design, installation and commissioning and maintenance of fire detection systems.
Objective and compatibility of ISO 7240 – 14
The installation of a fire detection and alarm system is completed successfully when the following conditions are met.
Although, the quality of the devices is very important to meet standards and pass audits. The proper functioning of a fire detection and alarm system depends largely on the quality of the work, experience of the designer and installer.
During the preparation of ISO 7240 - 14 several national codes and standards were reviewed.
Although there are small differences between the different codes studied, for example.
Each code or standard has the same objective to detect fire early.[1], [2],[3].
