Final project
Introduction
The final project or work (also called PFC) is, in certain countries such as those belonging to the European Higher Education Area, a project or work required as a condition to finally obtain a university degree.
In Spain, after the Bologna university reform, this work becomes a mandatory requirement to obtain the corresponding official Bachelor's and Master's degrees. For the first, said work is called final degree project and, for the second, master's final project.
The final degree projects can be freely consulted in the libraries of the university centers where they were published, as well as in the corresponding digital repositories. Some universities promote that, if these projects are software, they are licensed freely.[1].
The final degree project (TFG)
Final degree project (TFG) is an autonomous research project with a final thesis of the university degrees that the student completes, which has between 6 and 30 ECTS credits.
With the Bologna Process and the European Higher Education Area, undergraduate university degrees (240 ECTS credits) require as a condition to acquire the degree an autonomous research project with a final thesis that has between 6 and 30 ECTS credits.[2][3].
The purpose of completing the TFG is to help the student integrate the teachings received during the studies and ensure the acquisition of the competencies inherent to the degree.[4][5][6][7].
The work must include a thesis resulting from research, which is done under the supervision of a tutor (TFG supervisor) and at the end the work must be presented and defended before a tribunal that will rate and evaluate the work.[8][9][10][11][12].
The master's thesis (TFM)
The master's thesis is an essential requirement to obtain a postgraduate degree, which consists of carrying out a research work under the supervision of a tutor in which the knowledge and skills acquired by the student throughout the degree are revealed.[13].
