Facility management company
Introduction
The management of buildings and services[1] (in English facility management), is known in companies as general services (SS. GG.), is responsible for the management of buildings and their services. Services are usually divided into maintenance and activities. Maintenance includes tasks such as ensuring that a building's air conditioning operates efficiently, reliably, safely and legally. The activities include tasks such as ensuring that the building is cleaned regularly or monitoring the work of contractors (e.g. builders, electricians).
Role
The role of the director or general services manager (in English facility manager) is to ensure that everything is available and in good working order so that the occupants of the buildings can do their jobs. The manager generally has the ultimate responsibility for the quality of life at a facility. Management can be small-scale (e.g., the security service of a small independent building) or large-scale (such as Johnson Controls' Chrysler manufacturing operation), and even on an international scale (e.g., the global supply service of a multinational corporation). Property management and support services are also provided by large property managers who act on behalf of their clients and owners.
