Introduction
Building engineering "is the study and application, by specialists, of the various branches of technology applied to building", and building is understood as "that fixed construction, made with resistant materials, for human habitation or for other uses", according to the Dictionary of the Spanish language (Royal Spanish Academy).
Within the building, a distinction is made between residential building (single-family, horizontal, vertical...), industrial (ships, complexes, factories, warehouses, distribution centers...), commercial (restaurants, commercial premises, offices...) and institutional (educational, sports, religious, hospitals, cultural, recreational...). In turn, the building can be classified as public or private.

In summary, building engineering is the branch of civil engineering that allows the technical materialization of the building process. Starting from a phase of conceptualization of the building, the so-called basic project, the different phases that make up the technical development of the process follow one another, a structural phase, another phase in charge of the development of the facilities, a phase focused on the economic part, a phase of constructive definition, which through the voluntary management of the work, allows its physical materialization to be carried out, as well as a phase destined to the conservation of the building; That is, referring to all the phases that are part of the life cycle of what is built, from the technical design phase, its execution, its maintenance and finally its demolition if necessary.
At a professional level, it is an activity that includes a set of various disciplines that covers the management of the execution process, construction management, as well as the management of existing material execution in Spain, advice and consultation within the field of building, structural projection and building facilities, project management, urban management, management of construction, real estate and development companies, analysis and calculation of costs and budgets, management of the use, conservation and comprehensive maintenance of the building, as well as everything related to safety and security.
