Extinction by clean agent
Introduction
INERGEN or inergén[1] is the trade name (and trademark registered by the company Wormald Mather+Platt) of a gas designed for extinguishing fires. It is indicated for electric fire and closed rooms.[2]
It is commonly used in data processing centers, libraries, documentation archives, film libraries, etc.[2].
Chemical characteristics

It is colorless and odorless. It is also called a clean agent because it does not leave traces when used.[2].
Motivation
Inergen gas was developed as a substitute for halon gas for fire extinguishing.[2]
Halon has been banned in most of the world due to its extremely harmful effects on the ozone layer.[2].
Operating principles
Inergen gas extinguishes fire thanks to the displacement of oxygen, unlike halon, which combines with it.[2].
Paradoxically, the key component of inergen gas is carbon dioxide. This compound allows the human body to adapt to the atmosphere created by the gas by reducing its oxygen consumption. This is an effect similar to that experienced when doing prolonged physical exercise. The lungs adapt through deeper and slower inhalations.

Instructions for use
Energy is usually installed as a means of extinguishing fires in closed rooms, such as data processing centers.
For this purpose, a small room is set up where the gas cylinders are located. Each cylinder has a quick opening valve, a pressure gauge and a trigger, either electric or pneumatic. Its expulsion takes place through pipes that pass through a collector responsible for regulating the pressure (around 60 bar). The trigger can be manual or automatic thanks to fire detectors.
