Equipment Certification
Introduction
IECEE is the IEC system of conformity assessment schemes for electrotechnical equipment and components which is a body of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The IEC uses the name IECEE for the IEC System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrotechnical Equipment and Components better known as the CB System.[1][2].
The predecessor of the IECEE was a European body founded under the name Commission internationale de réglementation vue de la approval del équipement électrique (International Commission of rules for the approval of electrical equipment)[3] known as CEE. Historically, this certification process dates back to 1929 from an initiative of the German VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik und Informationstechnik).[4].
EEC standards
CEE published a series of standards under its own name. Most of them have been replaced by CENELEC and/or IEC standards.
