Electric Freight Transportation
Introduction
An electric truck is a truck that uses one or more electric motors as a means of propulsion.

Semi-trailer trucks
The Port of Los Angeles and the South Coast Air Quality Management District have shown off an all-electric short-range heavy-duty truck capable of transporting a full 12m cargo container. The current design is capable of pulling a 27-ton cargo container at speeds of up to 64 km/h and has a range of between 48 and 97 kilometers. It uses 1.2 kWh/km (or 4.5 MJ/km), compared to 47 L/100 km for its combustion equivalent.[1].
Volvo, DAF, MAN, Freightliner and Tesla plan to begin series production of articulated trucks with adequate range for regional freight transport between 2019 and 2020.[2][3].
Electric tractor heads
Electric tractor units have been built since the 1990s.[4][5][6].
trolley truck
In France and elsewhere trolley truck systems existed for service in factories and canals.
Since 2011, Siemens has been developing this technology on the world's first electric highway in Sweden.[7][8][9][10].
Freight transportation on highways generates a large amount of polluting emissions that can be reduced by continuing the trolley system with new technology.[11].
dairy fleet
A common example of electric trucks is the milk truck. Since it makes several stops in the delivery of milk, it is more practical to use an electric vehicle than a combustion truck, which would be stopped in neutral "Neutral (mechanical)") most of the time; which also reduces noise in residential areas. For most of the century, the majority of electric road vehicles belonged to the British dairy fleet.[12].
