El Faro Towers
Introduction
The El Faro Towers are a complex of 2 interconnected towers, located in the neighborhood of Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
At the time of their construction they were the tallest buildings in the country, however, in 2008 they were equaled by the Repsol YPF Tower, then in 2009 they were surpassed by the neighboring Torres Mulieris (161.4 m) (both in Puerto Madero). Finally, in 2018, the construction of the neighboring tower, Alvear Tower (235 meters high), was completed, becoming the tallest building in Argentina.
Architecture
They have a total height of 160m and an area of 57,190 m². They are connected to each other by four bridges, each 11 floors apart, and on the last bridge, which is on the 46th floor, there is a living room/gazebo overlooking the river.
They are made up of 160 apartments, an outdoor pool, a spa, sauna, gym, two underground parking spaces for owners and guests, among other secondary facilities.[1].
Construction
The Faro project was born approximately around 1999, with the renovations to the new neighborhood of Puerto Madero. From the beginning, the project was made up of two 170-meter-high towers, with 48 floors distributed. The towers would be connected to each other by several bridges on four different levels. The project designed by the studio of Berardo Dujovne, Silvia Hirsch and María Dujovne was approved between 2000 and 2001, and the construction of tower 1 began. Although there were several proposals from people from the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve, tower 1 completed its construction in 2003 with its inauguration. The tower was marketed at the time that construction of tower two began. There were complaints that Law 123 had been exchanged for Law 452,[2] because a low or medium amount of environmental impact was needed to approve the project. In 2005, tower 2 completed its construction and was marketed, ending in the tower project. These became the highest in Buenos Aires and Argentina.
The construction company was Ingeplam S.A.
