Ecotourism (Infrastructure)
Introduction
Tourist inn is the name given in Colombia to a family-run tourist establishment, preferably with native architecture, to promote the generation of employment and income for families residing in different rural areas. They had their origin in the proposals of the world ecotourism summit, held in Quebec, Canada in 2002.[1].
In Colombia, a "Tourist Inn Program" was created for populations in rural areas with ethnographic value.[2] The inns are located in rural areas of the geography, where there is no extensive hotel infrastructure, many of these do not have the comforts of modern life, but they do offer tourists the possibility of learning about the culture and customs of native communities. These are usually typical homes built of stones, wood, straw or cement. Generally each cabin has a bed with a canopy, a hammock, a night table and a bathroom, with capacity for 2 to 4 people.
