Drain Accessories
Definition
Drain fittings concept
Drainage accessories are complementary elements that are used in wastewater, stormwater and other liquid discharge systems in buildings and infrastructures. Its main function is to allow the connection, derivation, change of direction, reduction or expansion of pipes, ensuring optimal flow and without losses or obstructions.
These components are essential to guarantee the correct installation and operation of drainage networks, also facilitating maintenance and repair when necessary. They are used in both domestic and industrial and urban installations.
Types of drain accessories
Elbows and curves
Elbows or curves are accessories that allow you to change the direction of flow in a drainage installation. They are manufactured at different angles, the most common being 45° and 90°, to adapt to the needs of pipe layout. Its design seeks to minimize pressure loss and avoid accumulations that could clog the system.
In addition, there are special elbows with variable radii that allow smoother curves, which helps improve the hydraulic behavior of the system. These accessories are essential to overcome obstacles and direct water to the discharge or treatment points.
Teas and crosses
Tees and crosses are accessories that facilitate the joining of several pipes, allowing the flow to be diverted to different directions or combining several water currents. The tea has a 'T' shape, joining three pipes, while the cross connects four points.
These accessories are crucial for designing complex networks, as they allow the efficient distribution and collection of wastewater or stormwater. Its use must be carefully planned to avoid turbulence and possible obstructions.
Reductions and adapters
Reductions and adapters are accessories that allow pipes of different diameters to be connected, ensuring drainage continuity without leaks or losses. The reduction can be concentric or eccentric, depending on the required alignment between the pipes.
